ROG Strix SCAR 17 (2023) G733

Coming is February will be NVIDIA’s newline of mobile gaming laptops. The ASUS’s ROG Strix SCAR 17 (2023) G733 is looking to be the most interesting. The new laptop will have a 16 core 32 thread 7945HX and the option for an RTX 4080 12GB or the RTX 4090 16GB.

The laptop will come with a 17.3-inch WQHD (2560 x 1440) 16:9 display, MUX Switch + NVIDIA® Advanced Optimus and have two M.2 4.0 NVMe’s and an upgrade-able Wi-Fi 6E card alongside a 2.5G LAN port. The CPU will boost to 65 watts and the GPU to 175 watts. The laptop should preform similar to a Desktop RTX 3090. The price will be absolutely ludicrous being over $4000, but the SCAR 17 does appear to be the most appealing laptop coming this February from a Specs perspective.

Unfortunately most laptops are using the less power efficient Intel chips and only the Lenovo Legion 7 will have an option for both 7945HX, RTX 4080 12GB and RTX 4090 16GB selection. The AMD Lenovo Legion 5 will only be available in Europe.

I would have preferred more 15.6 inch options as well as 1080p/OLed display options. Unfortunately most gamer’s don’t understand that future games won’t be able to run at 1080p 60 FPS even on an RTX 4090 Desktop.

A future proof minded person like myself understands that in the long term game engines will destroy every GPU on the market even at 1080p.

Anyway, I have to imagine ordering will be very easy considering most will pass because of the insane price tags.
